[Hope and Despair]

WHOO!

I'm feeling that feel. Loving the vibe you put out with those instruments! Great flow, easy listen. You seem like you know your music program well, and know how to mesh different sounds together well :) The only thing that I noticed was that the heavier instruments like the bass and drums sometimes seemed to slightly overwhelm the mix - not a huge deal, but sometimes it felt like the track was pushing a ceiling. Overall though, balanced and smooth! Great job man :D

Thanks a bunch man! Yeah I did notice that a little bit post-production and I am trying to figure out what I need to do to fix that. I do know my way around my DAW well but I still am pretty amateur with EQ work and stuff with multiband compressors and the like. Thanks for listening! Definitely a real cool vibe you got going on in your tracks man. I would review each and every single one, but I would kill my fingers doing so - you got so many! Good work, keep it up. Nice catchy beats make the day. :)

I am very glad I took the time to check out your music.

I can hear the ideas you have in your tracks loud and clear. The only thing you have now is to improve how to express those ideas. Think of it this way - you got past one of the hardest parts!

I would have to agree with the "cheesy" comment with the other review - but it's not necessarily a bad thing. :) Sometimes it is just what's needed to fit the track.

I enjoyed the fact that I never got bored - something hard to do nowadays with so many boring tracks out there. LOL.

Nice track. I liked the different instruments you introduced as the mix progressed - you have a knack for a balanced mixdown. In the beginning, the initial bass seemed to slightly overwhelm the kick, but it resurfaces when the kick changes. The atmosphere you created with this track definitely matches the title!

The only other thing I really notice is that the percussion volume could be a little bit higher, and the synths overall could have a VERY slight reduction in volume. Sometimes, the higher synths are a bit too loud in the mix. Nothing overwhelming noticeable, but I think a slightly lower volume on some of the more piercing synths could help to create a better percussion/synth balance.

Thanks so much for this track, it was smooth listening. Looped it a couple times because it was so nice :) Favorited 5/5

DIdn't expect anyone to review my old stuff. Thanks for the feedback. You may not agree with me, but I am disappointed with this song as it doesn't tell a story. It is just a mix mash of different themes. However, the happy new year song you already heard is exactly how I want to convey my stories. I will not be making revisions to the song because like all my really old stuff I store it away in a folder somewhere on the computer back at home. In other words I move on to other better things. Thanks for your time.

Thoroughly enjoyed this track for two reasons.

1. You compose without regard as to what people want - and it shows in a very positive way.

2. Your mixes are nice and balanced, it's easy listening. Loved the variation you had throughout the piece - despite it, it never felt rushed between major transitions.

You have a lot of talent to be sure. I'd have to disagree with the rating on this song - something like 4.5 would be more accurate. I think some people might have had trouble with the fact that some pitches didn't quite match in the melody, but I think that it adds a lot to the flavor of the track.

I loved the low bass pluck instrument that sounds like hitting pipes (not sure what it is). The pulsing low bass sometimes made the kick drum a bit mushed down in the mix especially when the pipe bass came in simultaneously with it, but nothing that really needs to be fixed.

Overall, this is a very nicely done track. I enjoyed it greatly - and even though it looks like you're taking a break from NG, I hope you come back with amazing tracks like this. Favorited 5/5

I took a break from NG for quite some time prior to this song and am on another long break off. I am pleased that you noticed my style of music and appreciate the effort that goes in. Surprisingly, very few notice it; some calling it repetitive at times.

I'm not so concerned about the score. Since I first joined NG, there has always been the daily zeroing in every song. You get used to it. At the end of the day, NG should be a place to improve via social interaction with other up and coming artists. Unfortunately, many tend to see this site differently than I as a place to compete for score and popularity. They want people to review their songs, yet they are unwilling to help other musicians with constructive criticism.

There are areas I would like to improve in this song, but I am studying overseas so I don't have my music program anymore.Thanks for the tips.
