DI-

okay maybe not that one here. LOL

Kreyowitz responds:

HAHAHAHAH YES.

WHOO! Thank you so much dude, this is pure amazing. The amount of time you spent on this piece really reflects on the quality... holy. I have no words to accurately describe how much I love this.

Starting off with that nostalgic beginning, with the bass and and light guitar arp - I know that's how the original was, but your softer rendition was a great touch. Then a pluck layer, after the first four measures, and then at :27 - holy. That nice reverse fx into the percussion and the flute sound - that was phenomenal. Great mixdown here, balanced and spaced - sounded awesome. You did a great job with the right amount of reverb on your percussion. At 1:25 ish, where stuff drops off, it gets a feel of the original, which I really like. Then at 1:47, nice rendition of that syncopated section. And at 2:00... I love your interpretation of those drums. The way you did it gives the entire syncopated section a great halftime feel - I'm glad you put thought into how you wanted your edition to sound, and your thought really showed in a positive way to me! Continuing the halftime feel to around 3:20, where it drops off to piano and light guitar, nice little ambient break. Addition of drums after that was a nice spacey feel to the ambience. I like how the strings introduced later almost feels like a part of the phaser pad going back and forth - I dunno if that was intentional, but it was a very effective surreal effect that served to break down the track very well. Then, ending with the syncopated melody - perfect. :)

I hope my review has done your amazing track justice, and I'm very honored to have requested this work of yours. I'm looking forward to your future works, my friend. Thank you very much, you're awesome :D Cheers!

Holy fuggin' crap man, this....THIS. I was seriously just hoping you would enjoy this, let alone LOVE the damn thing. I'm just happy that I could make something for someone to enjoy, the fact that you call it Amazing just...like... auughh god. The Feels.

THE FEELS.

Thank you for that, it's like a huge weight has been lifted from my body, OH MAN. Hell yes.

I hope I can continue to make music that gives people that same feeling.
Thanks for that, it was needed.

Whoa whoa whoa.

Those string pad swells at the beginning sets a nice tone for the rest of the track. Around :24, I really like the low bass synth portamento down to the drum section - nice touch! Good ambience feel from then to around :55. The pluck synth is nice here, but when the last of the three note pattern gets off beat, it feels slightly weird. Then at the bridge, when it starts getting more melodic, the synth does a nice job there. Breakdown to the bass synth at 2:15 - I really like that portamento! Nice job man. Overall, good ambience feel, good structuring. I enjoyed this! Keep it up my friend ^__^

TaintedLogic responds:

Thank you so much, Lockyn! :D You're being too nice to me! I'm glad you like my portamentos, but I personally think I use the slide tool way too much! I understand your criticism about the awkward rhythmic shift. I had really tried to force that riff at 1:10 into the song too much. Thanks a lot, though! I really appreciate the support! :D

NICE. Now that's what I call water.

I do understand this is supposed to be a background track, so I'll keep that in mind as I review this. Really enjoyed the ambience from around :00 to :46. The metal fx to the drums was nice, although I think more work could have been done on that transition. The drums were nice and solid - perhaps more variation in the samples you used? It could make for some nice drum patterns. And perhaps some hihats. The low string throughout the drum part set the mood nicely. Around 1:30 when the square synth comes in, nice change up there. Drums reintroduced slowly around 1:50 - the water drop effect drops off right when it gets a bit annoying, so thanks for that. Then around 2:22, metal fx up again to the layered section. I really like this part, where all the instruments come together - really nice work creating that dark mood! At the change up around 2:54, really like that you used the square synth again in a lower register - it can be quite powerful no? Nice little trill at the end of the riff, it's a nice flavorful touch. All in all, great track, I thoroughly enjoyed. Going in my favorites!

5/5 Favorited all that. Keep it up my friend!

FortressLord responds:

Wow thanks for adding to favs!
I agree with the positives and negatives and I should use more samples.

Damn. I'm liking this groove.

Really nice work man. The first part I really enjoyed those poppy tuned percs, those were a really nice touch - glad you took time to work on panning those pops. Then, around 0:45 when the saw synth comes in with the drums, I really enjoyed that section. It's a nice and balanced mix, so good job on that! Really liked the funky transition around 1:35 to the vocoder voice niceness. This is a cool "messing around" track - so much potential here! I do hope you finish it eventually ;)

Great work, and cheers! 5/5 followed.

Octrox responds:

Thanks. Your stuff looks really good too! :)

Don't know if this will turn into a complete track, don't think so.

Wow, very nicely done! I have no experience whatsoever with voice acting nor am I aware of the difficulty, but you make something that seems extremely hard seem effortless. Great demo mate, looking forward to hearing your voice(s) in any and all future works. Cheers!

MichaelJ responds:

Thanks. I appreciate it!

Your songs are almost magically bringing me back to listening to symphonic and heavy metal single-handedly. I've already commented on your superb polyrhythm work and varied chord structure on your other piece, "Selflocked", but this one really serves to solidify my opinion of you as an excellent musician and producer. Nicely balanced, smooth yet growly, this track reminds me of why I loved listening to metal so much. Even though it's not finished, it's going in my favorites.

5/5, 10/10, all those goodies. Keep it up man, you might convert me back to a metal listener yet ;D Cheers!

PirateCrab responds:

Has anyone ever told you you're awesome? Because you're awesome. Hopefully I can bring you back round to the metal world dude, but thanks so much for your awesome reviews :) ill be leaving a few reviews on yer tracks when I get home from work, had a gander through and there's stuff I love there. I think a collab and cross between genres needs to be done ;)

(I already told you how much I f**king love those synths, but I'm indulging here. ;3)

Holy hot damn. This is crazy. Those synths. Are tugging at my soul. Insane bass work my friend! :D

DetiousMusic responds:

;D thanks man, I just wish my mastering was better :p

This is cool.

I would say this is more breaks than dnb (although you probably think so to judging from your tags), and I enjoy a nice breaks piece every now and then. This one really caught my ear - you have a knack for clean drum work from what I'm hearing, so good work on that! I do like the melody you have going in this track, but it does get a bit repetitive for me. I think breakbeats tend to get repetitive if you don't work hard at variation, so it should be something you consider. The change in drum patterns around 3:00 did a good job of bringing me back. The building metal fx you use to signal a transition got a bit repetitive for me as well, surprisingly... Good balance throughout the track, you did well. Enjoyed it! Keep it up, my friend.

FortressLord responds:

I am not in the mood for a detailed response, but thanks for the review and good rating, and future versions (if I make any) will have:
* More transitions
* Variations of melody for a less repetitive lead.

This is a really interesting one.

I'm not sure if I can really appreciate this properly - I never was a big fan of UK garage, dub, grunge, 2-step, etc. but I do really enjoy the interesting spacey, clean basses that are characteristic of some of those genres. I loved the basses you used in this piece. The first one at :38 was really interesting - really does sound like a trance bass. Then the bass after, that one was really nice. Drum patterns definitely remind me of 2-step and uk dub. Your mixing is pretty solid. I would say that the only thing that really bothered me was your lack of variation when repeating some of the basses after the 2:30 mark - some different patterns would have added some nice flair. Over all though, nice bass design, nice rhythms, catchy and enjoyable. Good work!

FortressLord responds:

I noticed the repetitiveness at around 2:30. Any future versions will have that cut out and a more lead-like kinda thing added, maybe an improvement on the bass with glitching at 03:00.

Thanks for reviewing, sorry I didn't feel like a detailed response, but know that I always read and meditate on all reviews!
